West Beach Primary School

West Beach Primary School
West Beach – South Australia

Our extensive experience in redeveloping community swimming pools, for both aesthetic appeal and primary function allowed us to draw on our substantial experience to future proof West Beach Primary School swimming pool to ensure swimming lessons and water safety in term four physical education continued long into the future.

West Beach Primary School is situated in a picturesque beachside area and has served the community for over six decades. In a location such as West Beach, it is natural the kids are heavily involved in outdoor activity like surf life saving, and thus the school swimming pool provides valuable water safety and swimming lessons as part of the curriculum to develop confidence in the water.

The existing pool surface of a painted concrete shell was starting to peel off and expose several cracks in the pool structure. The ideal solution for the aging, but sturdy structure was the installation of a commercial grade PVC liner comprised of three layers- one with high dimensional stability and strength, the next with a web like material to control stretch, and the final and outer layer is a tactile surface designed specifically to interact with pool chemicals, water and UV light. Cracked tiles on the hob were replaced and the existing plantroom also received an upgrade. The finishing touch of a new pool cover on a roller which assists in reducing evaporation, maintaining chemical balance, and preserving pool temperature to extend the pool use time frame was the icing on the cake.
