Kalumburu Swimming Pool
Indigenous Pool – Kalumburu, Western Australia
The technology used to build the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool at the iconic Marina Bay Sands in Singapore has been installed in the remote Kalumburu community in Western Australia. As Natare Corporation’s Australian partner, Hydrilla engineers and construction experts collaborated with MCH Solutions & Kimberly Green Construction, installed the pre-fabricated swimming pool system at Kalumburu, the northernmost settlement in Western Australia and one of the most remote Aboriginal communities in the country.
Swimming pools are acknowledged for playing an important role in remote communities offering a sense of place, acting as a meeting area for greater connection, inclusiveness and togetherness. Research has shown that pools in remote Aboriginal communities lead to improved physical, social and psychological health, enhancing general wellbeing and educational outcomes.
