Inside the grounds of Norwood Memorial Gardens, neighboring Norwood Oval, you’ll find Norwood Oval Fountain – a memorial to the Australian Former Prisoners of War. The location of the Norwood Oval Fountain is a peaceful place to pay respects and designed to reflect the notions of tranquility, peace and human survival. It is part of the cultural heritage walk through Norwood.

What alerted the City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peter‘s council to a potential issue was the hedging surrounding the fountain was suffering irreversibly from waterlogging. After extensive soil testing to determine the suitability of replanting, our investigations discovered that while the hydraulics were functioning as intended, there was cause for concern with leaking pipe penetrations.

Corrective works included demolition of the tiling in the base of the fountain, pressure testing and visual inspection of all the pipework and penetrations, hydrostatic testing of the structure before reinstallation.
