The start of spring saw the culmination of the aquatic award season for Hydrilla; the 2025 National SPASA Awards of Excellence Gala held at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne. After incredible success at the State awards in July, where all 4 of our entries received Gold Awards, it was time for them to stand along side other amazing facilities to be judged for the top honor of National Gold.

This year we weren’t able to have anyone in attendance at the National Gala but the whole team was waiting with baited breath for the results.

Of our 4 entries in 2025, Hydrilla received a National Gold Award for the Commercial Renovation of Thebarton Aquatic Centre.

National Gold Winner – Commercial Renovation

Thebarton Aquatic Centre, a facility that has been teaching the local community to swim and water safety for at least 40 years received an incredible $8.7 million rejuvenation – making it look brand new.

The renovation was addressed in two stages: decommissioning and reinstallation, and as would be expected with any aged facility, complexities did arise. It was all hands on deck to meet the handover deadline, but nothing our team can’t achieve.

The outcome is a facility ready to accommodate the overflow of Adelaide Aquatic Centre patrons as well as being all abilities accessible – something the facility was not before.

In addition to Thebarton Aquatic Centre’s Gold award, we were also finalists in a number of other categories including:

• Commercial System for our extensive upgrade at Blue Dolphin Swim Centre
• Commercial Pool over $1,000,000 for the realisation of Salisbury Aquatic Centre
• Commercial Water Display for the unique design and installation of at AURA Retirement Village

Our team is once again thrilled to have our hard work recognised nationally, sitting amongst the best swimming pool and spa builders across Australia and New Zealand.
