It is that time of year; the 2024 SPASA National Awards! On Wednesday 21st August, the award season culminated at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre where our 3 state Gold Awards competed for the top honour of National Gold in their category. Ben Miranda, Hydrilla Director and Project Manager was there on behalf of the whole team, and once again we are thrilled to have our team and their hard work recognised and celebrated by the industry on a national level.

Of our three entries in 2024, we received a Gold Award for Community Project for the Splash Park at Cowell (South Australia) and SWELL Palmerston for Commercial Pool (Aquatics) Over $1 Million.

National Gold Winner – Community Project

The investment in the local community from the District Council of Franklin Harbour is sensational. The Splash Park, as part of the Foreshore Redevelopment has made Cowell a place to not simply bypass or stop at briefly, but a destination. Anecdotal evidence from local businesses has described the success as a tourism boost across retails, accommodation and activities. Our work creating the Splash Park stands as a shining example of excellence in community and economic investment.

National Gold Winner – Commercial Pools (Aquatics) up to $1 Million

Hydrilla’s work at SWELL Palmerston in the City of Palmerston NT drew on decades of experience and a passion for building aquatic facilities for growing communities. SWELL was initially simply a decaying 50m pool, not sufficient to serve the community. With the use of Myrtha Pools modular stainless-steel pre fabricated panels, we were able to renovate the 50m pool in addition to the new warm water program pool, splash pad, and associated hydraulics and plantroom infrastructure. The forecast population growth for Palmerston warranted such a transformation and entry to the centre will be free until mid 2026.
